It is that time again to nominate a deserving individual for the David Strand Diversity Award.
This award recognizes a current Illinois State University faculty or staff member who is instrumental in extraordinary curricular or program activities that assist the University in responding to its commitment to diversity. The award recipient will be announced during the spring semester Founder’s Day Celebration on February 16, 2017, and will receive individual recognition and a cash award. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, emeritus faculty, retirees, and friends of the University are encouraged to make nominations.
Award Criteria and Eligibility:
The award recognizes individual faculty and staff members who make extraordinary contributions to curriculum or program activities that assist the University in responding to its core value of diversity as outlined in Educating Illinois.
All faculty and staff members of Illinois State University who meet the following qualifications may be considered for the Strand Diversity Achievement Award:
1. Must currently hold a full time position in the University.
2. Must be instrumental in extraordinary curricular or program activities that assist the University in responding to its core value to diversity as outlined in Educating Illinois.
3. Demonstrated commitment to diversity in one or more of the following areas:
· Service to the ISU campus community
· Teaching (Including other scholarly and artistic activities)
· Community Outreach (connecting campus to the community)
· Program Development
· Professional Development
· Additional work or research
Nomination Procedures:
Nomination forms are available through the Dean of Students Office. Please submit the nomination form and the following supporting documents electronically to Hurdylyn Woods at hwoods@ilstu.edu, Dean of Students Office, by January 13, 2017:
1. A letter of nomination and two letters of support that demonstrate how the nominee meets the selection criteria (one letter must come from the nominee’s immediate supervisor).
2. The nominee’s current vitae/resume.
3. A statement from the nominee articulating his/her commitment to diversity as articulated in Educating Illinois.
4. Examples of work that demonstrate how the nominee meets the selection criteria.
