Seven Kinesiology and Recreation students, along with Professor Rachel Smith, sailed away to the western Caribbean in January as they explored exotic ports of call aboard the Disney Fantasy.
The first-ever Introduction to the Cruise Ship Industry class provided students with behind-the-scenes tours with the cruise director to understand the inner workings of the floating city, from youth activity areas and aquatics to port excursions.
In Cozumel, Mexico, students visited Punta Sur National Park, snorkeled, saw Mayan ruins and toured the community on dune buggies. In Grand Cayman students visited the ocean on horseback and swam with dolphins. At the Jamaica port of call students walked through Dunn’s River Falls and tubed down the White River.
What a great way for students to study abroad by learning about the inner workings of the cruise ship industry, meeting people from around the world, and traveling to different countries.
