Illinois State University has once again been named to Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll, which identifies four-year colleges and universities that offer exemplary support for community college transfers.
Illinois State is one of 65 colleges and universities across the nation named to the 2017 Transfer Honor Roll. The University was one of a select number of colleges named to the inaugural Honor Roll in 2016. Honor Roll institutions are selected based on engagement, collaboration, impact, and achievements related to the transfer of community college students as well as partnerships, support, admissions outreach, scholarships/financial aid, student engagement opportunities, and institutional priorities.
“Transfer students are a large and vitally important part of our student body,” said Jana Albrecht, interim associate vice president for Enrollment Management. “Each year more than 2,600 students transfer to Illinois State from community colleges and other higher education institutions across the state and the nation. A wide array of advising and support services are in place to ease their transition to student life here at Illinois State.”
The 65 colleges and universities named to the Transfer Honor Roll will be featured in the 2017 Phi Theta Kappa Partners in Excellence publication, distributed to higher education leaders nationally, and will receive recognition on Phi Theta Kappa’s website and at PTK Catalyst, Phi Theta Kappa’s 2017 annual convention in Nashville, Tennessee, April 6-8.
Phi Theta Kappa is recognized as the official honor society for community colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges.
