The College of Business congratulates Briana Allen, this year’s recipient of the Jack North Student Leadership Award.
This award was established to honor Jack North, senior executive vice president at State Farm Insurance. North served on the College of Business Advisory Council and as chairperson for the first Illinois State University Capital Campaign that raised $96 million for the University. He is a dedicated servant leader and supports this award to honor an outstanding student who shows potential as a future business and civic leader.
The recipient of this award must be graduating senior or graduating BS/MPA student majoring in the College of Business in good standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.00/4.00 or higher. In addition, they must display extensive involvement in College of Business and Illinois State University activities, reflect a commitment to service leadership by showing involvement in community and civic activities, and reflect integrity in their daily life.
Briana will be graduating from Illinois State with a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance. Briana is a part of the Honors Program and a University Scholar. During her time at ISU, Briana has been very active in and out of the College of Business. She has been a resident assistant in Watterson Towers, the public relations chair of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, a mentor for the University Scholars Association, the vice president of Finance for Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity, as well as a mentor for Business Week.
Additionally, she has served as the vice president of student affairs for Gamma Iota Sigma International Insurance Fraternity and has been extremely active in the Katie School of Insurance. Briana has donated her time volunteering for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and dedicated a semester to a service-learning project at the local YWCA. She has completed internships with COUNTRY Financial in Bloomington, the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO) in Dallas, and Lloyd’s of London Insurance in London.
Briana has accepted a full-time job as a graduate development program trainee at Willis Towers Watson, a commercial insurance brokerage, in its downtown Chicago office.
