Diversity Advocacy is sponsoring a new series of workshops that examine identity and the ways in which those identities intersect into systems of power and oppression.
The series hopes to create an introduction to identity exploration and an understanding of the way in which someone’s identity helps shape how they move through the world and interact with others.
We invite students to unpack their sense of identity in several upcoming workshops. These workshops will be led by Jenn Carrillo, director of Mission Impact at the YWCA McLean County. “We are excited to partner with the YWCA and highlight the great work they do in the community surrounding empowerment and social justice work,” said Mandy Dartt of Diversity Advocacy.
The workshops include guided dialogues about diversity, power, oppression, and identity. The sessions will be held at 3 p.m. in the Student Services Building, Suite 314.
Upcoming sessions:
March 9 – Sexual orientation and gender
March 23 – Ability
April 6 – Class
April 20 – Race
