The Student Alumni Council (SAC) prides itself as a strong supporter of Illinois State University traditions. This group continues to play a part in spreading awareness about campus traditions, maintaining SAC traditions, and being involved at celebrations of traditions. Here are a few traditions SAC participated in this past year.
Homecoming 2017
Homecoming is always a huge time for SAC. SAC feels that traditions are an important part of this organization and each member works hard to continue those traditions, many of which fall during Homecoming week. The group has always worked hard to build an amazing float for the annual parade, and this year was no different. SAC took third place among the other student organizations. The group’s hard work paid off!
Along with float building, SAC helped to “Spread the Red” and pulled together over 60 students to paint 45 local business windows for SAC’s annual Homecoming window painting.
We can’t forget to include Reggie feet! Still a favorite tradition! A big thank you to the alumni who helped make these feet stencils. They are still used every year!
Sibling Carnival at Sibling Weekend
SAC puts together a carnival filled with games around Redbird Arena an hour before the Gamma Phi Circus performance. This year the carnival had many different games, like basket toss and Plinko, for children to enjoy, along with the popular face-painting station. SAC entertained over 600 families and had a lot of fun seeing the kids and families connect with Illinois State and SAC.
