An update from Francesca Biundo ’04 and ’06, who graduated with both a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish from Illinois State.
“My undergraduate degree was in Spanish, with a TESOL and International Studies minor. I am also a certified teacher in Spanish and Italian.
Although my master’s degree focused on peninsular literature and culture, throughout my undergraduate and graduate years I also studied linguistics and second language acquisition, which have given me well-rounded knowledge.
During the two-year graduate program at Illinois State, I also taught beginner Spanish courses. I thank Dr. Mir and Dr. Hildebrandt for training students how to teach a language in a creative and efficient way. The department is rich with talented professors (not only my former ones) and staff who want their students to succeed.
I am now teaching Italian and developing the program towards AP in one of the best private schools in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Furthermore I interpret or give private lessons when I can.”
