Eric Godoy joins the Illinois State University Department of Philosophy as an assistant professor. He earned his Ph.D. in 2014 from The New School for Social Research. His areas of specialization are in ethics, environmental philosophy, and social-political philosophy.
Godoy was the assistant chairperson of the Department of Social Science and Cultural Studies at The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn from 2014 to 2017. He has written peer-reviewed journal articles on ethics and the environment that have appeared in Environmental Values and Ethics, Policy & Environment. He received the New School Teaching Fellowship Award from The New School for Social Research in 2013. Godoy has presented his research internationally and across the United States, and has led talks and workshops at several different universities in New York City.
Moving to Central Illinois from Brooklyn, Godoy is a big fan of board games, especially Euro-style strategy games. He also loves cooking vegetarian dinners.
