On September 6, Languages, Literatures, and Cultures inaugurated their newly renovated space in Stevenson 227B, currently being referred to as the Language Commons. All LAN faculty, staff, and students were invited to drop in between noon and 4 p.m. to add their creative contribution to a mural that will adorn the main wall in the Commons.
Students and faculty alike from all languages made their mark on the mural such as painting a flag associated with a country where their language is spoken, or characters from familiar films in their language, to masks and other creative designs related to their studied or native culture.
All LAN students, faculty, and staff are warmly welcome to use the Language Commons to study, for conversation, club meetings, or a place to eat their lunch or dinner. Furthermore, grammar help is offered at various times throughout the week for beginning and intermediate students in the languages currently being taught. Computers and a university printer are also available for use in this room.
The Commons will be open in the Fall 2017 semester from 8 a.m. -9 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Fridays.
