Sean Hayes has had a remarkable career in Hollywood as an actor, producer, and comedian. He is most famous for playing Jack McFarland on NBC’s Will & Grace, a role that led to him winning an Emmy award in 2000. In 2013, Hayes was granted an honorary doctorate degree by Illinois State University in recognition of his creative and cultural achievements.

He has given back by starting The Sean Hayes Theatre Scholarship Fund, which is used for a scholarship in the School of Theatre. Each recipient of The Sean Hayes Theatre Scholarship is selected from a pool of applicants in consultation with Sean, who serves on the selection committee.

“I’m trying to do my part to help a fellow Redbird by providing a scholarship for an incoming freshman who dreams of studying theatre… just like I did,” Hayes said.
