As the weather begins to warm up, more bikes will be hitting the pavement. Chicago has a national reputation for being one of the best large cities for bicycling, but what about those in our community who don’t have access to this kind of transportation? Working Bikes gives donated bicycles new life by redistributing them as tools of empowerment in Chicago as well as communities around the world.
The Chicago Young Alumni Network is teaming up with Working Bikes for its next service project. Redbirds will help prepare for the spring rush by organizing bikes, sorting parts, prepping shipments, and light mechanics on bikes destined for Chicagoland recipients.
When: 9:30–11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31
Where: Working Bikes, 2434 South Western Avenue, Chicago
If you’re interested in volunteering, sign up by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, online or by calling Alumni Relations at (309) 438-2586. Orange, Pink, and Blue Line trains are within walking distance, and free street parking is available.
