Professor Dan Wilson recruited high school and community college students at the 2018 Graphic Arts Print Expo at Harper College in Palatine. More than 300 students taking graphic communications classes in the Chicago area learned about careers in the industry and opportunities to advance their education at Illinois State University.
Graphic communications graduates become technical, creative and management professionals in a variety of markets. The curriculum blends digital media and print media technology. Students are involved in hands-on projects to design and produce commercial products that incorporate printing technology, photography, video, 3D animation, augmented reality. Graduates develop highly marketable skills in project management and business.
Two concentrations within the graphic communications major may be pursued for more in-depth study; marketing graphics technology, with an emphasis on cross-media technology, package design, and color management; or web content management, with an emphasis on front-end development and digital media management.
