As part of the Redbird Arena Seating Enhancement project, Redbird Athletics invites fans and alumni to own a piece of Redbird Arena history by purchasing lower bowl seats. Seats will be sold as individuals, but fans are able to purchase more than one.
The Redbird Arena Seating Enhancement is an upgrade to the current seating of the Redbird Arena lower bowl. The seats, which are original to the building, will be removed to allow for new seating to be installed in the arena. Included in the enhancement will be additional courtside seats, loge seating, wider aisles with handrails, larger seats and the transition to a numerical system for sections as opposed to letters.
“Redbird Arena is as much a part of Redbird Basketball and Volleyball as anything and our fans feel connected to the building,” Illinois State Assistant Athletics Director for Development Sean Johnson said. “As we close the book on this chapter, it was important for us to find a way for fans to commemorate something they’ve grown so close to. Our hope in selling the seats and other memorabilia is that even if Redbird Arena changes, our fans have a piece of this history to hold on to.”
Lower bowl seats will be sold for $150 each and the deadline to order is Friday, May 24. As part of the seating enhancement project, section signage will also be auctioned off at a later date with more information to come.
