Stop by the Wonsook Kim School of Art annual holiday art sales to find a special gift or to select a favorite piece for yourself.
This year the 35th annual Printmakers’ Exhibition and Sale will be held Thursday, December 5, from 5-7 p.m. (preview sale) and Friday, December 6, from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. in Intaglio Studio, room 123 of the Illinois State University Center for the Visual Arts (CVA123). All items are original artworks by Illinois State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visiting artists and range in price from $5 to $100, payable by cash, check, or credit card.
Proceeds from the sale support the artists in the printmaking program, with a percentage of every sale going to support visiting artists. All of the proceeds from selected works will go to the printmaking student travel fund to support student participation in national conferences. This year’s silent auction will feature three works: Sugar Dreams by Stephanie Liner, Spheres of Influence by Meda Rives Smith and Veda Rives Aukerman, and A Comma in the Middle of a Phrase by Jonathan Higgins and Sarah Smelser. Bids will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, at the event or via email. Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. and do not have to be present to win.
The Sculpture Program will host a sale of small gift items on Friday, December 6 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in room 124 of the Illinois State University Center for the Visual Arts (CVA124). The sale will include original cast metal paperweights, card holders, incense burners, knitted items, and more. All items are handmade and most items will range in price from $10 to $40.
Jewelry design majors will host a sale of handmade, one-of-a-kind items on Friday, December 6 from 8 to 5 p.m. in the Airport Lounge of Centennial. Cash, Venmo, PayPal, and CashApp accepted.
The Illinois State University Clay Club will host their annual ceramics sale on Friday, December 6 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in Centennial West, room 101. All proceeds from the sale directly benefit students with support for attending workshops, bringing visiting artists to campus, and for registration to the annual ceramics conference, NCECA. Cash and credit card accepted.
The Illinois State University Photography Club will host a winter print sale on Friday, December 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Circus Room (located on the 1st floor of the Bone Student Center). Prints made by current, former, and alumni members of the Photography Club will be available for purchase with cash, check, credit card, and PayPal accepted. Proceeds from this sale go to the photographers with a percentage of each sale to be given to the Photography Club to support future trips, photo demos, and other opportunities for members.
The Illinois State University Glass House will hold their annual holiday glass sale from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, at the Glass House (the Vitro Center at the intersection of Main and Willow streets in Normal.) The sale will feature handmade glass items made by Illinois State University students. Cash and check accepted.
