Joe Galvin ’80 left his mark at ISU by scoring more than 1,000 points and setting a school record of 132 career blocks while a member of the men’s basketball team. His record for most blocks in a game holds at nine.
Galvin is still impacting Athletics by creating with his wife the Joe and Jeanne Galvin “32” Scholarship Fund to benefit student-athletes in the Professional Sales Institute within the College of Business.
“My wife and I saw this as an opportunity to connect not just our Illinois State roots but my roots in Bloomington-Normal as well,” said Galvin, who was a starting center for three years on the ISU team.
Galvin is a member of Illinois State’s Athletics Percy Family Hall of Fame. He played professionally in the U.S. NBA with the Indiana Pacers and in Spain, where he won an international championship in 1981. He is in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. A business administration graduate, Galvin is the chief research officer for the business consulting firm Vistage Worldwide Inc.
