Every month the Administrative/Professional (A/P) Council highlights an A/P staff member through a series of questions as another way for the Illinois State community to connect. This month readers can get to know David Krueger, associate director for Financial Aid.
What are your responsibilities in this role?
I supervise the counseling staff and our operations area which is responsible for all incoming documents and outgoing communications. And whatever anyone else asks me to do.
How long have you been an employee at ISU?
A long time… about 35 years! I actually started here as a student worker in 1984.
What do you love most about working at ISU?
The people I work with – past and present, the students, the atmosphere of a college campus – things are always happening and changing.
What is one fact about yourself that might surprise people?
I don’t know if there is anything about me that would really surprise anyone. I do have two children who have graduated from ISU and a third who is currently a sophomore.
When you’re not working, what are you most likely doing?
Walking or hiking with my wife, Michele, playing with our doodle, Finn, or our cat, Georgia. And cooking something.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
The Quad. I love walking through a park every morning on the way to the office.
What quote most inspires you? Why?
“And I knew exactly what to do. But in a much more real sense, I had no idea what to do.” – Michael Scott.
Why? Sounds about right, doesn’t it? You feel like you are doing the right thing, and you hope you are! And it’s Michael Scott.
