The Illinois State University Textbook Affordability Committee is pleased to announce a new website related to issues in textbook affordability. The website provides information about available campus resources and strategies faculty and students can utilize to reduce textbook costs.

For students, the website provides suggestions for managing textbook costs, responses to some frequently asked questions from students, and links to campus offices who can help students navigate textbook affordability challenges.

For faculty, the website suggests ways that faculty can help alleviate textbook costs for students, describes some common textbook formats and options, and outlines the textbook adoption process and timeline at Illinois State.

The new website is available at its direct URL, and it can be located in the University’s A-Z list. Students and faculty can also view the site in the My.IllinoisState portal.

The Textbook Affordability Committee is a campuswide group that reviews textbook affordability issues at Illinois State and develops recommendations regarding potential strategies and resources to help reduce textbook costs. The committee has representation from student government, the student body at large, teaching faculty, the Registrar’s Office, the Student Affairs Division, and Milner Library. Some members are appointed and others are elected. As part of the University’s shared governance structure, the Textbook Affordability Committee reports to the Academic Affairs Committee, which reports to the Academic Senate. Current members of the Textbook Affordability Committee may be reached at textbookaffordability@IllinoisState.edu.
