In 1921, Illinois State University held its first official Homecoming with a parade, party in Fell Hall, dance, and waffle breakfast. Now the University will celebrate its centennial year with many more events and traditions. Window Painting, 1-5 p.m., October 10
Organized by Student Alumni Council, the Homecoming Window Painting is a great way to help get Homecoming week started by painting the windows of a local business around campus. All registered student organizations are welcome to participate. Those interested in helping can contact Kait Sullivan, graduate assistant for Alumni Engagement.
Homecoming Kickoff on the Quad, 5-7 p.m., October 11 (At BROWN BALLROOM)
Get ready to kick off Homecoming 2021:100 Years! Celebrate school spirit as we kick off this milestone Homecoming year alongside President Terri Goss Kinzy, Reggie Redbird, and football coach Brock Spack. Grab free food, check out the entertainment by Sweet Water, and get ready for giveaways and Redbird photo ops.
Redbirds Care Blood Drive, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., October 12
Visit the Brown Ballroom in the Bone Student Center to save a life. The first 30 to donate will receive a Homecoming spirit bag. Register for your spot.
Redbird Rumble, 7-9 p.m., October 12
Be a part of the 100th year of Homecoming with a little friendly Redbird competition. This event allows the opportunity to compete in a variety of fun events and show your Redbird pride. Limited to 40 teams. Learn more about rules and registration.
Pack the Arena and Hoopfest, 6 p.m., October 15
Friday night of Homecoming Week is full of events, starting with Redbirds on the court! Pack the Arena night means free admission to watch our women’s team take on Loyola Chicago! Show your best Illinois State spirit and get ready for an exciting match. During the game, a pom pom giveaway will take place.
Following volleyball will be a Redbird favorite, Hoopfest. This free event will showcase the 2021–2022 Redbird men’s and women’s basketball teams and include several other fan interactive promotions.
Homecoming Parade, 10 a.m., October 16
Registered student organizations and campus units can be a part of the second-longest tradition at Illinois State. Submit parade entries by October 5 online. Find more information on the parade website.
Reggie’s Substance-Free Tailgate, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., October 16
Enjoy free food, live music by emerging American country music artist Eric Chesser, a photo booth, door prizes, games, and more! Chesser will be offering a $500 scholarship to one student in attendance from his Tailgate Nation Scholarship Foundation to show his support for Illinois State University education and athletics.
