Mid-semester means midterm exams, and CTLT’s Opscan Evaluation service is standing by to assist, whether you’re planning to use Opscan now that you’ve returned to face-to-face teaching, or you’re getting started with Opscan for the first time.

After limited service during the last academic year, Opscan is now back to its regular hours in Williams Hall 117. No appointment is necessary.

In addition, faculty members can authorize their teaching or research assistant to drop off or pick up test results.

More than just grading

Opscan does more than just score quizzes. It can also pick up on faded pencil marks on answers that have erased, indicating to you which students need further assistance in gaining confidence in the course content. This analysis can also help you to better clarify questions and provide more distinct corresponding answer options.

Beyond evaluating test scores and simple data analysis, Opscan can plot correlations between a range of variables. For example, it can help you identify the relationship between clarity of test questions and students’ success.

For more information about Opscan, you can email Victoria Bush at vbush@ilstu.edu or call (309) 438-2139. Opscan is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
