Healthy eating is a crucial component of living a balanced and well lifestyle. We define healthy eating as meeting the dietary guidelines, realizing everything can have a place in a well-balanced diet yet some foods lower in nutrient density may need to be limited. Your food and physical activity choices affect your health every day; they dictate how you feel today, tomorrow, and in the future.

Each individual requires a balanced diet unique to their needs. Factors such as gender, age, ethnicity, and activity level all affect the amount of nutrients your body requires for optimal health. Individuals can take small steps in improving their diets through personalization, moderation, proportionality, and consuming a variety of food choices.

Health Promotion and Wellness offers free individual diet analysis and nutrition guidance for those striving to improve their lifestyle. Faculty and staff can meet one on one with the Health Promotion and Wellness nutrition graduate assistant at no cost.

Participants will need to complete a 72-Hour Food Diary and a health questionnaire and upload it to the Health Questionnaire prior to their nutrition consult.

Once the food diary is submitted, our staff will analyze your information and then reach out to schedule a meeting. This process takes one to two weeks. Please contact WellnessNutrition@IllinoisState.edu with questions related to your nutrition consult.
