Love is in the air…for data? International Love Data Week takes place February 14-18 and is a celebration of data, seeking to raise awareness and engage communities on topics related to data management, sharing, preservation, and reuse as well as highlight library-based research data services.

This year’s theme is “Data is for everyone,” exploring how different folks use data across different disciplines. The 2022 theme also highlights biases in data, examining who is “in” the data and who is invisible.

Chad Kahl is Milner Library’s new data services librarian. In this new position, Kahl will be working on supporting and expanding the University’s community awareness and understanding of data sets, services, resources, and issues. He is also now the Designated Representative for ICPSR for Illinois State University. In that role, he can assist faculty, staff, and students with using ICPSR resources.

Love Data Week is sponsored by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). ICPSR offers a data archive, educational activities, and sponsored research on digital curation and data science. ISU is a member institution. For more information on Love Data Week or data services at Milner Library, contact Chad Kahl at cmkahl@ilstu.edu.
