Illinois State University’s annual Civic Engagement Celebration will take place on April 12, from 2:30–4 p.m., at the Circus Room in the Bone Student Center.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m. for light appetizers and this year’s Civic Engagement Exhibition. The Exhibition will feature table displays from University units with a civic engagement focus as well as poster presentations from faculty, staff, and students.
A short program will begin at 3 p.m. featuring comments from Illinois State University President Dr. Terri Goss Kinzy, Provost Dr. Aondover Tarhule, and Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Levester Johnson. Following their remarks, winners of the University’s 2022 Civic Engagement Awards will be announced. Additional time will be available for the Exhibition at the conclusion of the award presentations.
“This is an important, annual event for the University,” said Harriett Steinbach, assistant director at the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE). “Each year we take time to uplift the University’s core value of civic engagement by celebrating the amazing work taking place across our campus and in our community.”
“And when we publicly acknowledge this work,” Steinbach continued, “we also increase awareness of the ways that other individuals could also become involved.”
The Civic Engagement Exhibition is a new addition to the Celebration this year. Table displays will be provided by CCE, the Office of Sustainability, the Stevenson Center for Economic Development, and the National Center for Urban Education. Additionally, poster presentations will be offered by:
