Beta Gamma Sigma is The International Business Honor Society. Since 1913 we have recognized and honored top performing students from around the world in business schools accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). We are also a proud member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). Our members are the top 10 percent of undergraduate students and the top 20 percent of graduate students and all doctoral candidates that have successfully defended their dissertation at an AACSB accredited business school. AACSB accredits just 5 percent of schools worldwide, assuring that BGS members belong to an organization synonymous with the highest standards of academic excellence. BGS members go on to serve in critical leadership roles in corporate, entrepreneurial, government, non-profit, and academic sectors.

Dr. Barb Ribbens, associate professor in the Management and Quantitative Methods Department and director of the Carson and Iris Varner International Business Institute was named the College of Business BGS Professor of the Year. This is an honor that is bestowed by the members of Beta Gamma Sigma upon a professor who exemplifies the three pillars of the society. Beta signifies honor defined as personal integrity, as well as excellence of character. Honor is a prerequisite for those who lead others. Gamma signifies wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge tested by experience and tempered by discerning judgment. Sigma signifies earnestness which is enthusiasm measured by achievement, reason, and sincerity. Ribbens was selected because of her dedication to the international business program and helping students participate in study abroad opportunities as well as offering a global perspective through student events within the college.
