The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is proud to announce the newest addition to Illinois State University’s audiology program, Dr. Shraddha Shende.

Shende received her B.A. and M.A. in audiology and speech-language pathology from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities in India and her Ph.D. in speech and hearing science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Shende’s research expertise is in auditory cognitive neuroscience, and she directs the hearing-cognition laboratory at Illinois State University. Her research focuses on the relationship between hearing loss and cognition/dementia in older adults. She uses a variety of techniques, including behavioral methods and electroencephalography in her research. She has also published her work in numerous journals including, Geriatrics, Aging and Health Research, and Behavioral Brain Research.

Shende will teach amplification technologies, medical audiology, aural rehabilitation, and several other classes at Illinois State University. She brings a unique perspective to her classes as a researcher and clinician.
