GradBird Appreciation Week coincides with the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students’ Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week.
Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week seeks to highlight and celebrate the contributions, impact, and value of graduate and professional students on campuses throughout the United States. The Graduate School at Illinois State University will host various fun events during the week.
Sunday, April 2
GradBird Appreciation Week Kick-Off, Bowling and Billiards Center, 3-5 p.m.
Join the Graduate School during our GradBird Appreciation Week kickoff event at the Bowling and Billiards Center. There will be free food and beverages, free bowling, and two monitors within the esports area to play party games. Come meet some fellow graduate students. This event is co-hosted by the Graduate Student Association.

Monday, April 3
GradBird Snack ’n SWAG, Bone Student Center, 1-3 p.m.
Come for a visit at the Bone Student Center to grab a treat and spin the wheel for some fun SWAG items.

Virtual Drawing Session with GradBird Alumni Sean Thornton ’00, M.S. ’17 ’22, 5-6 p.m.
Join the Graduate School and Sean Thornton, graphic designer with Illinois State’s Marketing and Communications Department.

Tuesday, April 4
Morning Yoga Flow, Campus Recreation, 8-8:45 a.m.
Join the Graduate School and Campus Recreation for restorative yoga. This 45-minute vinyasa-style yoga class incorporates fluid, flowing sequences that focus on increasing strength and flexibility while calming the mind through slow and controlled movement.

Managing Anxiety and Stress with Health Promotion and Wellness, Spotlight Room in the Bone Student Center, 3-4 p.m.
Join the Graduate School in the Spotlight Room on the first floor of the Bone Student Center for a presentation given by Health Promotion and Wellness. In this session, you will learn about the different signs of anxiety, how to cope with stress, and preventive measures that can be taken.

GradBird Movie Night–Back to the Future, Normal Theater, 6-8 p.m.
Join the Graduate School at the Normal Theater for the classic movie Back to the Future (1985). Marty McFly, a 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his close friend, the maverick scientist Doc Brown.

Pricing for an all-you-care-to-eat lunch for $7.45 or dinner for $9, are available with an Illinois State graduate student ID. This saves graduate students $2.40 and $2.15, respectively, off the current door rates. The dinner price begins at 4:30 p.m. The dining website has daily menus available to view.
This event is a collaboration between Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality and the Graduate School.
Set Yourself Up for Future Success with Career Services, Spotlight Room in the Bone Student Center, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Join the Graduate School in collaboration with Career Services for a session about setting yourself up for future success after graduate school. Specifically, this session covers interview tips, job-hunting strategies, and the resources and support available at the Career Services Center.

Grab & Go Art Kits, pick up from either Watterson Dining Commons or School Street Food Pantry, 1-3 p.m. (or until kits run out)
In collaboration with Illinois Art Station, the Graduate School will have art kits for you to pick up. This art kit will include everything needed to complete the project.

Raffles—the more events attended the better your chances to win
There will be raffle tickets available at every event. Come and participate in any event and earn a raffle ticket. At the end of the week, four names will be drawn to win items. The more events you attend the better your chances are to win prizes.
There will also be our mega raffle that one lucky graduate student can potentially win. To enter the mega raffle, take a photo of yourself at the event, and tag the Graduate School on any of its social media pages and be actively following those pages to be entered. The more pictures you tag us in the more entries you will get.
