The College of Applied Science and Technology recently hosted a successful week of events celebrating advancements in the field of science and technology, and the students and professionals who make those advancements possible.
The CONNECT event kicked off the week. Hosted by CAST Connections, this event offered the opportunity for current students to network with recent alumni. The focus this year was on modern communication, effective networking, and leadership skills.
The second day of the week featured a keynote address from Emily Calandrelli who is best known as the host and co-executive producer of the hit Netflix series “Emily’s Wonder Lab.” Calandrelli is also an executive producer and Emmy-nominated host of FOX’s “Xploration Outer Space” and was a correspondent on Netflix’s “Bill Nye Saves The World.” Calandrelli shared her experience as a woman in STEM, and her enthusiasm was palpable to those in attendance.
The third event of the week celebrated CAST alumni during their induction to the Academy of Achievement. The Academy brings together alumni who are “thought leaders” in their fields and who serve as an inspiration to others with similar career paths.
On the final day of Science and Technology Week, CAST hosted the Women in Leadership conference where students, faculty, alumni, and professionals from various fields came together to connect for great conversations on networking, goal-setting, and decision-making. The guest speakers at the event included keynote speaker Evelyn Sanguinetti, an attorney, human rights advocate, 47th Lieutenant governor of Illinois, and the first Latina lieutenant governor in the United States; Stephanie Duquenne, senior director, Alumni Engagement; and Natalie Alexander, associate director of employer engagement, Career Services.
CAST would like to send a big thanks to the students, alumni, faculty, and professionals who attended these events to make the week so successful.
