With a 5-2 victory over Belmont, the Illinois State women’s tennis team completed an undefeated conference schedule (15-6, 8-0 MVC) and clinched the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title, the program’s third in the past five years.
Appears In“I could not be more proud of this team and their work this season,” head coach Maja Kovacek said. “This was not a championship team in August when we got to campus, but they have dedicated themselves each day to improving and making each other better.”
The Redbirds earned the No. 1 seed to the MVC Tournament, but lost to No. 2 Drake, 4-3, in the title match.
