Scholarship recipient Leo Krueger is from Vandalia. The international business major is set to graduate in 2026.
Krueger is a recent recipient of the Matt Busey Endowed Scholarship and for the last two years has been awarded the Leona Standford Vollintine Scholarship.
A couple of Krueger’s highlights since having started his journey at Illinois State include beginning to navigate his independence and adjusting to college life. Krueger has learned to balance fun experiences while in college with actively gaining valuable knowledge about the topics that interest him.
Aside from attending Illinois State full-time, Krueger is a part of a couple registered student organization on campus. He is a part of the Sales Excellence Academy, International Business Association and also works for a startup as a sales representative.
One book Krueger has recommended is “The Power of One More: The Ultimate Guide to Happiness and Success” by Ed Mylett. He shared, “It is an exceptional book with many applicable themes and messages, all of which are especially important for me at this pivotal stage in my life.”
When faced with the question about how donor support has impacted him, Krueger shared, “I would like to make an analogy of the ripple effect that I believe donors provide. The ripple effect is similar to that of throwing a stone in a body of water. When doing this, the stone creates ripples that impact the rest of the pond. Donors are doing this on a daily basis by investing in the lives of students at Illinois State University.”
Krueger appreciates the aide provided by donors thus far in his college career. He shared that as a scholarship recipient, the investment in himself and his future as an international business major is also an investment at the world as a whole.
