The University recognized Todd Thomas from the School of Information Technology with the 2024 Williams Outstanding Technology Service Award for his exceptional assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
Dr. Ani Yazedjian, acting vice president for Academic Affairs and provost, presented Thomas with his award at the 2024 University Teaching & Learning Symposium on January 10. She noted that, in nominating Thomas, his colleagues were effusive in their praise, citing his professionalism, skill, and passion in supporting activities both in the school and in the College of Applied Science and Technology. Faculty members wrote about Thomas’ willingness to go the extra mile, visiting classrooms to help troubleshoot issues and locating resources that would best fit their students’ learning needs.
Thomas’ peers also singled out his foresight, highlighting his ability to understand the needs of users and plan long-term solutions to complex challenges. All mentioned his collegiality and enthusiasm, exemplifying the best qualities of our institution and its mission.
Thomas joins a long line of staff members nominated by their peers and honored by Illinois State for similar efforts. Dr. David and Kay Williams established the Williams Outstanding Technology Service Award in 2001. It continues Williams’ commitment to building a “technology-friendly campus” in support of learning, teaching, research, and creative activities.
