The Center for Integrated Professional Development and the Cross Endowed Chair for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning seek a Teaching Scholar-in-Residence to provide professional development for faculty and staff this summer. The selected scholar will be in residence at the Center during May and June, where they will serve as an educational developer alongside Center staff, designing and implementing a three-day “deep dive” workshop on their selected topic as part of Summer Institute.

“We know there are experienced instructors on campus who have the knowledge, the curiosity, and the drive to expand conversations about teaching and learning in new and unexpected ways,” says Dr. Jennifer Friberg, who holds the Cross Endowed Chair in addition to being the Center’s director of scholarly teaching. “This residency helps them to explore their passions while also serving the professional development need of the Illinois State instructional community.”

The scholar will receive a $3,000 stipend upon the successful completion of their program, which must conclude by June 30, 2024.

The program is open to all tenured, tenure-track, non-tenure-track faculty members and staff with instructional duties at Illinois State. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024.

The Center for Integrated Professional Development supports Illinois State faculty and staff members in their pursuit of excellence and innovation in teaching, student learning, and the effective use of technology. As a part of the Center, the Cross Endowed Chair enhances innovation and research in teaching, increases Illinois State’s ability to attract outstanding teaching scholars to campus, and helps to establish a balance of distinction in scholarship work in teaching among all disciplines.
