Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts is excited to announce the finalist who will represent the college in this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
Breanne Evans is an artist/illustrator majoring in Creative Technologies. She has worked in marketing for over five years while utilizing her skills in graphic design, branding, social media, and copywriting. She teaches Composition and Design for Digital Media at Illinois State University and in the past has taught Computer Imaging and Design, and Introduction to Digital Media at Heartland Community College.
“Outside of creating when inspiration strikes, I am highly motivated by others,” said Evans. “I consistently challenge myself to stay sharp and competitive in the field and frequently experiment with new tools to develop unique approaches to mixing media. My focus is on advocating for sustainable creative methods and furthering ecological efforts. I am invested in the blend between digital and traditional media as a way to collaborate with the natural world. I often use organic or recycled materials alongside digital technologies to reduce my environmental footprint.”
Evans’ research, “Reconnecting to play,” will be presented during the 3MT competition on Thursday, February 29 at 6 p.m. at the Normal Theater in Uptown Normal.
The Three Minute Thesis Competition is a competition that challenges master’s and Ph.D. students to describe their research topic and its significance in under three minutes to a general audience. Students are evaluated on their presentations by judges who decide on a first and second prize, but also by audience members who vote for a people’s choice award.
