Illinois State University’s Office of Technology Solutions Executive Director Todd Smoak was recently elected to the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) Board of Directors.
HEUG works to help institutions like Illinois State effectively manage their administrative technologies to improve constituent experiences. They act as an advocate for stakeholders’ concerns and priorities and influence vendors and software products for over 1,000 higher education institutions, including Illinois State.
The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations, finances, and compliance with laws and regulations to ensure that the organization operates ethically, transparently, and in its stakeholders’ best interests.
“Serving on the Board of Directors provides opportunities for building relationships and collaborating with other universities and vendors alike, which in turn puts Illinois State in a greater position to advocate for issues we are experiencing and influence future technology advancement,” said Smoak.
Smoak has worked at Illinois State for nearly 12 years. As executive director, he oversees many of the University’s core academic and administrative software systems that provide services such as learning management, registration, finances, human resources, and system integrations. These systems include Canvas, iPeople, Campus Solutions, Colleague, the Redbird Card, and more.
