Illinois State University’s most recent “Small RSO of the Year” recipient, the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), is setting a new goal! PRSSA is hosting a Hatch Crowdfunding Campaign to send all 10 executive board members to ICON 2024, the national conference of PRSSA’s parent organization, Public Relations Society of America, in Anaheim, California from October 13-17, 2024. ICON is an annual international conference with thousands of professional attendees. Students get to attend panels, network with professionals and experience the public relations world they are about to enter.
PRSSA is focused on the professional development of their members. All students who attend this conference have shown strong commitment to PRSSA and will bring back any knowledge they have gained for the other members and students at Illinois State University. The RSO has been working rapidly to regrow and reestablish since the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past year, they have doubled their membership, increased their on-campus presence, and strengthened their engagement with professional events.
The Hatch Campaign will launch a four-week long fundraiser to raise $5,000 to help send these 10 committed students. If you or someone you know can contribute to helping them reach this goal, please consider donating on this fundraising site. All donations will go towards travel and registration for this conference; any remaining funds will go towards future travel to other conferences or professional development experiences for the Chapter.
Kylee Baxa, Director of Special Events for the RSO, attended ICON 2023 and reports that, “My attendance at ICON 2023 was an experience I will cherish for a lifetime! From making long-lasting professional connections, building relationships with like-minded individuals and meeting fellow PRSSA students, I will never forget that week!”
