Homecoming 2024 is reliving the moments while finding new ways to create new moments for the Redbird community. To help create the new, the Alumni Association has taken two beloved Homecoming events and combined them into one main event focused on bringing the campus and community together for the ultimate kickoff experience. This new Homecoming kickoff and tree lighting event will take place in Uptown on Monday, September 23.
When: 6-7:30 p.m., Monday, September 23
Where: Uptown Normal
Inflatables, balloon artists, games, giveaways, Papa John’s pizza, WZND, and Redbird pride will all be on site along with performances by the Big Red Marching Machine and Redbird cheer. The first 500 Illinois State students to show a student ID will also receive a free Homecoming shirt.
Once the sun starts to set, watch the trees light up in Illinois State red and white with the help of President Aondover Tarhule and Mayor Chris Koos.
