The Civil Service Council will feature a Civil Service employee at Illinois State University each month to highlight an exceptional colleague and the outstanding work being done on campus. This month, learn about and applaud building service worker, Gracen Lukoskie.
What is your position on campus, and how long have you been with the University?
I am a building service worker, and have been with ISU for seven years.
What do you find most rewarding about your work?
There are many perks to the job, but I like being able to visually see a difference I’ve made on the campus. I like being able to make spaces look better than how I found it. I also like going in every day knowing that what I do is going to be something different. I am not a fan of monotony.
What are your hobbies or favorite pastimes?
I am into photography, reading, singing, playing any kind of sport, and I am an actor for a local haunted house in the fall.
What else would you like others to know about you or your time at ISU?
I love the students, as wild and wacky as they are at times, and the people. Over the years, I’ve definitely noticed a sense of community around my coworkers, how they genuinely care about one another.
