Join Queer Coalition and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program on October 10 for another iteration of their popular Queer Talks Lunch ‘n’ Learn series. Mike Ziri, director of public policy at Equality Illinois, the state’s LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, will discuss the challenges LGBTQ+ people experience in Illinois, how our state can keep moving forward to support and affirm LGBTQ+ people, and ways that LGBTQ+ people and allies can engage in advocacy to build a better Illinois.
The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the presentation portion commencing at noon. Online registration is required and participants will have the option to attend in person or virtually via Zoom. In-person attendees will receive a buffet lunch; as such, in-person attendance is capped at 50 people and registrations for in-person attendees must be received by the end of the day on October 2. The Zoom link and physical location will be shared with those who register.
Those who need an accommodation to fully participate in this event are asked to contact Queer Coalition Co-President Karmine Beecroft at kbeecro@IllinoisState.edu. Please allow sufficient time to arrange the accommodation.
