Greetings from the master’s degree in sociology program! We have had a robust year of new students joining the program and other students finishing their degrees. We are excited to see another new cohort of students and look forward to keeping in touch with those who have graduated.

We welcomed one new student in January 2024. Patricia Ebubechukwu joined us from Nigeria, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University-Igbarium Campus. Tricia is focusing her studies on gender issues.

We welcomed four new students in August 2024. ACED fellow Jackson Garrett earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from ISU and then served in AmeriCorps through Illinois JusticeCorps. Kat Johns, another ACED fellow, also completed her undergraduate degree in sociology at ISU. Kat has worked for several years at community service organizations such as PATH Crisis Center. Chaim Romanoff is also an ACED fellow and joined us from Yeshiva University in New York City, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He then devoted two years of service in AmeriCorps to City Year in Jacksonville, FL and Boston, MA. In the master’s degree in sociology program, we welcomed Lauri Klump, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University with a double major in sociology/anthropology and criminal justice studies. Lauri is focusing her studies on systemic inequalities and policy.
