Dr. Theodore Branoff & Reception Attendees

This September, faculty and staff were delighted to gather at the Department of Technology Scholarship reception, a yearly event recognizing honor students and highlighting those students who have been selected for departmental scholarships. The scholarships awarded this year, which range from $500-$3,000 apiece, add up to over $40,000.00.

“I think it’s fantastic,” says Technology Department Chair Dr. Theodore Branoff, “Some of these endowments are really growing so the awards are getting pretty significant, up to $2,300 or $3,000. That’s really putting a good dent in a student’s tuition.”

Each student who is awarded a scholarship is introduced by a faculty member(s) from their program area and called up to be recognized and have their photo taken with the faculty member(s). The students’ family is also invited to the reception to cheer them on and meet Technology faculty and staff and refreshments are offered. Honors students are also recognized for their hard work during the school year.

“I think we’re very blessed to have a lot of generous donors across all of our program areas,” Dr. Branoff acknowledges.  Large donors are also invited to the reception and get a chance to meet the students they’re helping fund as well.  Thankful students also get a chance to write letters to donors during ISU’s Thank-a-Donor Days.

The Technology Department is already accepting applications for next year’s scholarships until March.  Students can check out the available scholarships, application procedures, and application form online.
