National Transfer Student Week, taking place October 21-25, 2024, recognizes and celebrates the unique journeys of transfer students. These individuals bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and talents to campus, yet often face unique challenges, such as adjusting to a new academic environment and building new social networks. By celebrating National Transfer Student Week, Leadership Education and Development (LEAD), a unit of the Dean of Students Office, acknowledges these challenges while fostering a welcoming atmosphere that encourages connection and growth.
One way LEAD assists transfer students is through the EMERGE Transfer Student Leadership program. This program is designed to help transfer students connect with the Illinois State University campus and enhance their leadership skills.
This free, six-week leadership experience begins the week of January 27, 2025, and runs through March 3, 2025. Participants can expect a time commitment of approximately 75 minutes per week along with additional elective options. Registration for Emerge Spring 2025 is open through January 24.
