State magazine has always been more than a publication—it’s a connection to Illinois State University and the memories, milestones, and stories that celebrate the Redbird family. While our mission is not changing, the way we deliver the magazine is evolving to meet the challenges of rising costs and the opportunities presented by digital media.

Moving forward, all alumni and friends of the University will receive a digital version of State magazine via email and/or social media. Beginning with our summer 2025 edition, all donors who have given a minimum of $10 in the past fiscal year will also receive State magazine in print unless they opt for digital only. If you’d like to continue to receive each issue in print, simply make a gift to Illinois State. If you are a donor and would prefer not to receive the printed magazine, please update your communication preferences online.
This winter edition is our first as we embark on a new future for our publication, and we are pleased to offer a new, enhanced digital presentation of the magazine. We hope you enjoy it. No matter the format, State magazine will remain your connection to Illinois State. Just as Illinois State has adapted over the past 167 years, State magazine is moving forward, and we’re grateful to have you with us on this journey.
