Join faculty, instructors, staff, and graduate students from across the University for an engaging day exploring scholarly teaching practices at the 2025 University Teaching and Learning Symposium. Hosted at the Bone Student Center, this event features sessions led by Illinois State faculty and staff, with a boxed lunch provided.
The day includes a special workshop and a keynote by Dr. Michele DiPietro, executive director for faculty development at Kennesaw State University’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The symposium will conclude with a reception featuring drinks and hors d’oeuvres, poster presentations, and recognition of the annual Outstanding University Teaching Award and the Williams Outstanding Technology Service Award recipients.
This year’s theme, “Teaching in Turbulent Times: Creating Community with Care and Empathy,” emphasizes building learning spaces that support students and those who work with them. Together, we’ll explore ways to engage local, national, and global contexts in our classes, fostering inclusive and compassionate environments that meet the unique needs of our students while prioritizing our own well-being as educators and staff.
The 2025 University Teaching & Learning Symposium will be the 26th symposium since 1999.
