The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) is accepting nominations for Illinois State University’s annual Civic Engagement Awards. Since they were first presented in 2017, the awards celebrate the University’s core value of civic engagement by recognizing individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the cause.
Nominations can be submitted digitally through Friday, March 14, 2025, using the nomination form on the CCE website. The eligibility guidelines for all categories are also available online, along with a list of previous winners.
“We are thrilled to recognize and celebrate students, faculty, staff, community partners, RSOs, and campus units for their outstanding contributions to our core value of civic engagement,” said Dr. Katy Strzepek, director of CCE.
“There is a lot of important work happening within our campus community to create a more just and equitable world. Taking the time to recognize the determination and courage of individuals and teams throughout the University and community for their efforts is key. It highlights how civic engagement is an institutional value while providing support and inspiration for positive changes in our community and beyond,” Strzepek said.
The following categories will be recognized in this year’s awards:
- RSO Award
- Unit Award
- Interdisciplinary Award
- Centering EDI Award
- Faculty Civic Engagement Award
- Staff Civic Engagement Award
- Student Civic Engagement Award
- Community Partner Award
To nominate a group or individual for the awards, nominators should submit a statement describing how the nominee contributes to civic engagement at the University and/or in the broader community and include up to two letters of support from students, community partners, or colleagues.
The 2025 Civic Engagement Award winners will be honored at the University’s Civic Engagement Celebration on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 8, in the Bone Student Center Circus Room.
