Who will journey with you? Join the Illinois State University School of Theatre, Dance, and Film for Everybody, a contemporary adaptation of the 15th-century morality play, Everyman. Everybody was written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Dr. Le’Mil Eiland, assistant professor.
Everybody takes the audience on an existential journey through life’s (and death’s) greatest mystery: the meaning of living. This unconventional, spontaneous, and wildly humorous explanation of life flashing invites the audience to reflect on love, mortality, and the harsh truth of leaving behind everyone and everything you’ve ever known. The characters, selected at random from the cast during each performance, represent the unpredictable nature of death through their interactions.
This evocative and emotional work asks the question: what will you take with you? This show will lead you on a journey of introspection and challenge the way we think about our lives. Mixing these profound realizations with buckets of laughter, Everybody is sure to give the audience a heightened appreciation for the beauty of life.
Everybody will be performed in the Center for Performing Arts Theatre on April 11-12, 16-19 at 7:30 p.m., as well as on April 13 at 2 p.m. The performance run time is approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission.
