Illinois State University is proud to recognize Adam Streenz, fire/life safety associate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), for earning the Certified Fire Inspector II (CFI-II) and Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) credentials from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). These advanced certifications reflect Streenz’s continued commitment to professional growth and to maintaining the highest standards of fire and life safety on campus.
The NFPA CFI-II credential signifies advanced proficiency in fire inspection and code enforcement. It demonstrates the ability to interpret and apply applicable fire and life safety codes and standards in complex inspection and compliance scenarios. CFI-II certification represents verified expertise in inspection practices and life safety standards that help ensure university facilities remain compliant and safe for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
The NFPA CFPE credential recognizes advanced competency in the technical review of building, fire protection, and life safety plans. This certification verifies the ability to evaluate construction documents, fire protection system designs, occupancy classifications, and code compliance for new construction, renovations, and system modifications. A CFPE demonstrates expertise in applying fire and life safety codes during the plan review process to ensure proposed projects meet all applicable requirements before work begins. This credential supports safer, code-compliant design and construction across campus by strengthening Illinois State’s capacity to identify issues early and guide project teams toward effective, compliant solutions.
EHS hired Streenz in May 2020 as a safety/environmental compliance specialist. He has since risen to the level of safety/environmental compliance associate and currently manages fire/life safety programs as well as Redbird Emergency Medical Services. Streenz’s wealth of knowledge and expertise is recognized by everyone he works with on campus and our local emergency responders.
Streenz has a passion for volunteering. He is a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the Eureka-Goodfield Fire Protection District and is active in his church, where he regularly helps with missions and disaster relief efforts.
We are proud to recognize these meaningful professional achievements. Please join us in congratulating Adam!
