Alumni are invited to a 150th Presidential/Alumni Event on Thursday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, Ill.
The evening will feature a program with President Al Bowman and University administrators as well as the presentation of the Maitland Commitment to Education Award.
The choice of the two-year old, 40,000 square-foot Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum for the sesquicentennial event was a natural one as Abraham Lincoln drew up the legal documents that led to the creation of Illinois State University. The museum features permanent exhibits and live performances of historical events.
“We feel that the Abraham Lincoln Museum offers a unique venue to celebrate Illinois State University’s rich history as Illinois’ first public university,” said Carol Struck, director of the Illinois State University 150th Celebration. “Through this event, as well as others, we will celebrate those people who have impacted Illinois State University throughout its 150 years.”
Registration is available online at Lincoln, by phone at (309) 438-8790, or by email to Events. Guests must register by Tuesday, May 15. The cost per person is $15, which will include entry into the museum, parking and an hor d’oeuvres reception along with a cash bar.
