Illinois State offers lectures in your car, campus updates in your kitchen, and highlight reels while you walk. All are available by using your iPod and going online to iTunes U. The channel, which is available through the iTunes Store, features free, downloadable files.
The University’s iTunes U channel has more than 600 video, audio, and PDF files. Tune into WGLT or listen to keynote speakers brought to campus. Milner Library offers podcasts that capture the words of experts across disciplines, including authors, politicians, and educators.
Each of the six colleges offer podcasts focusing on departmental events, promotional materials, speakers, and lectures. Alumni Relations provides updates for graduates, while Redbird fans can download Athletics content created specifically with fans in mind.
The service can be accessed and navigated with ease. Browse options by categories that include featured content, college or campus area, or the top 10 downloads. Alums who subscribe to a podcast are alerted when new content becomes available.
To begin downloading to your iPod or computer, visit https://itunesu.ilstu.edu/ and click on “public materials.” iTunes will then be launched on your computer, and you will be directed to the Illinois State University iTunes U page. If you do not have iTunes on your computer, you will be prompted to download the program for free.
