The Founders Day Convocation on Thursday, Feb. 15, will begin at 1 p.m. in Braden Auditorium. Awards will be presented first, followed by keynote speaker, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and biographer David McCullough.
Founders Day will begin with the Old Main Bell ceremony at 10 a.m. on the quad. The bell-ringing event will be more special this year because a committee has chosen individuals to represent their campus units who, along with dignitaries, will each ring the bell once to signify the 150 years of the University’s life. Each campus unit was asked to submit a point of pride that the unit represents.
Refreshments will be served prior to and immediately following the bell-ringing ceremony.
Historical displays by academic and support units on campus will be featured in the Brown Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Founders Day Convocation/150th Kickoff will begin at 1 p.m. in Braden Auditorium, with McCullough as the keynote speaker. A reception will follow at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom, and McCullough will be signing books at Barnes & Noble Bookstore on the second floor of Bone Student Center beginning at 3:45 p.m.
