April marks National Poetry Month, and 2021 is the 25th annual celebration of poets and poetry. The Academy of American Poets began the yearly event in 1996. Over the years, National Poetry Month has become a major literary celebration recognized by libraries, schools, and bookstores worldwide.
This year, Milner Library is hosting an event to showcase Naudia Williams’ poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. Naudia is a current Illinois State University education major and reigning winner of America’s Best College Poet competition. Last fall, Williams competed against students from across the country to claim the title of Best College Poet. Her slam poetry is influenced by hip hop and focuses on her life experiences.
Join us on Thursday, April 22, from 4 to 5 p.m. via Zoom for a reading from Naudia Williams and some time for questions and answers about her poetry.
