Adams 14 will have no online option for elementary students next year and limited online spots for older students
Citing costs and logistical problems, and after seeing the slow student progress online learners made compared with their peers, Adams 14 officials will limit remote learning next year. The decision to limit online learning makes Adams 14 an outlier among Denver metro area districts, many of which plan to offer a robust virtual option with live instruction next year. The district is taking this approach even though families opted for remote instruction this year at higher rates than in neighboring districts.
After tragic deaths, Colorado launches ‘Safe Child Care’ task force
The state launched a task force early this month to recommend reforms to ensure child care settings are safe, prevent illegal child care in Colorado, and educate parents and child care providers about the issue. Leaders at the Colorado Department of Human Services created the task force in response to the deaths of young children in unlicensed child care in the past two years. A 9News investigation this spring spotlighted two of the cases, including one that spurred the passage of a new law — the Elle Matthews Act for Increased Safety in Child Care — requiring the state to publicly post information about child care providers who have been ordered to halt operations.
