National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Accepting Applications for DEI Standards Committee
The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards is an anti-racist and inclusive organization. We believe that educators must help students consider their role in a diverse world, value individual differences, and—especially in times such as these—we believe in the power of the teaching profession to defend what is good and right for all people.
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is seeking applicants from the educator preparation community to serve on the committee that will develop standards in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. These Board certification standards for practicing teachers also impact teacher preparation programs and assessments, professional learning programs, and state licensure systems across the country. The 10-12 committee members will receive an honorarium and will be representative of the diversity among teaching professionals and the students and communities they serve.

ISBE Seeking Recommendations for Educator Engagement Opportunity
ISBE’s Strategic Plan identifies collaboration as one of the agency’s four foundational lenses. Throughout the pandemic, educator voices have been critical to ensuring ISBE’s guidance reflects the tremendous diversity of our 852 school districts. We ask school administrators to please consider recommending outstanding educators in your district to serve in future working groups and educator recognition efforts so that we can continue to build on the agency’s educator engagement efforts.
To nominate an educator, please complete the Recommendation Form by June 25. Please consider both early career and veteran educators, racial/ethnic and gender diversity, and different instructional areas.
Educators have elevated best practices during the pandemic and helped develop equitable policies and recommendations – from an elementary teacher serving as a thought partner on room arrangements for young students, to bilingual educators identifying the need for clear face masks for English Learners, to a rural teacher identifying creative solutions to limited bandwidth. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to uplift educator voices.
